The Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, has initiated a program called Skill Vigyan Program (SVP)which is implemented in all the states across the country to improve the skills of the educated unemployed youth to acquire necessary skills by them to suit industry requirements for getting employment or to start their own Startups in their respective trained fields. Skill Vigyan Program is a three-year program supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India.

Programs under Skill Vigyan Initiative are Students TrainingProgram(STP), Faculty Training Program (FTP), and Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP)

The main aim of Skill Vigyan Program is to provide high quality hands-on training in tools and techniques in multidisciplinary areas of Biotechnology for entry level students (10+2) and Graduates in Biotechnology in partnership with State Councils of S&T by utilizing existing facilities in Universities/ Institutions/ Scientific organizations / Training Centers.

The training areas includes:

1) Students Training program,

2) Technician Training program,

3) Faculty Training program,

4) Entrepreneurship Development program and

5) Finishing School program.
